I have been an active amateur for over 35 years now. I have been involved with radio since an early age when I was first introduced to radio by my Uncle, probably encouraged by my mother who was mostly likely worried I was going to hurt someone with my screwdriver antics!
I have been active on many bands from VLF to microwaves, using many different modes over the years, from SSB/CW through to FSK441 and JT65B. I've been active on all sorts of modes, including ground breaking ones when they first came out, who remembers the first RTTY/AMTOR using Commodore C64's or ZX Spectrums! How about copying UOSAT 2 digitalker or UOSAT 1200 baud telemetry? Ahh they were the days!
I have also been active on satellites using RS10/15 and also the lovely and sadly missed Molynia orbits of AO10/13/40.
Although I am active in many areas of this great hobby, non interest me as much as VHF-SHF DXing does. Something I have been interested in since my early days on 144 MHz using a Liner 2 and a 10 ele Jaybeam! Bit of a far cry from the IC9100 I use now on EME!
